Amazon listing optimization services for a box far smaller than the one you type into
Titles are capped at 75 characters as of 27 July 2026. Only the first 1,000 bytes of your five bullets are indexed. Mobile truncates at roughly 80. Most sellers are writing thousands of characters into fields where the majority of it is never read by a shopper or an algorithm.
Titles, bullets, images, backend terms and A+ content, written for the space that actually exists and checked against suppression rules.
What are Amazon listing optimization services?
Amazon listing optimization services are the work of building the listing itself so it converts and stays live: titles written to the current character limit, bullets structured so the indexed portion carries the search terms and the visible portion carries the argument, images that meet the main image rules, complete category attributes, backend search terms, and A+ content that answers the objection costing you the sale.
Worth drawing the boundary early, because two services sit next to each other here.
Amazon listing optimization services change what is inside the listing. Amazon SEO changes how the listing is ranked and what it is eligible to appear for. You need both, and a beautifully written listing in the wrong category still loses.
Why most of what you wrote is never read
Four limits decide how much of your listing does any work at all. Almost nobody writes to them.
Titles are capped at 75 characters, including spaces. The rule applies across all categories except Media and took effect on 27 July 2026. Amazon has been rolling out AI generated replacements for titles that run long, which means the practical choice is whether you write those 75 characters or the algorithm writes them for you. Item Highlights carry up to a further 125 characters and are a separate field with a separate job.
Only the first 1,000 bytes of your bullets are indexed. Amazon allows five bullets at up to 500 characters each, which is 2,500 characters of space. Search indexing stops well before the end of it, so terms buried in bullet four and five are decoration rather than coverage.
Mobile truncates everything at around 80 characters. Roughly two thirds of Amazon shoppers buy on a phone, where the title clips and each bullet collapses. If the first 80 characters of a bullet are not a complete piece of value on their own, that bullet does nothing for most of your traffic.
The main image rule is enforced automatically. Pure white at RGB 255 255 255, product filling at least 85% of the frame, no text, no logos, no graphics, and at least 1,000 pixels on the shortest side. Fail it and the listing can be suppressed out of search entirely, which reads to a seller as a sudden and unexplained collapse in traffic.
Amazon revises these rules regularly and enforcement has become more automated each year, so check the current requirement before a bulk rewrite. Our Amazon listing score checker will score a listing against the main ones in about a minute and tell you which of the four above you are failing.
What you can write against what actually counts
Print this one out. The gap between the two right hand columns is where most listing effort disappears.
| Field | Space you get | What actually works |
|---|---|---|
| Title | 75 characters, all categories except Media | Brand, product, then the one differentiator. Assume 80 characters visible on mobile |
| Item Highlights | Up to 125 characters | The attributes a shopper filters on, not a second title |
| Bullets | 5 at up to 500 characters | First 1,000 bytes indexed. Target roughly 140 to 220 characters each |
| Each bullet opening | No formal limit | First 80 characters must stand alone. Mobile clips the rest |
| Backend search terms | Byte limited, varies by category | Synonyms and misspellings only. Repeating title words wastes the field |
| Main image | One slot | Pure white, 85% frame fill, no text, 1,000px minimum |
| A+ content | Multiple modules | Informational rather than promotional. Stock modules no longer move anything |
The backend search terms row catches experienced sellers out. Words already in your title do not need repeating there, and doing it spends a limited field on coverage you already had.
What our Amazon listing optimization services cover
Written to the limits above, then checked against the rules that pull listings out of search.
Titles inside the 75 character rule
Brand, product type and the single differentiator that matters, in the order a shopper scans. Written by us rather than generated for you by Amazon.
Bullet structure
Search terms placed inside the indexed portion, each bullet opening with a complete piece of value in its first 80 characters so it survives mobile truncation.
Image review and direction
Main image checked against the white background, frame fill and resolution rules, then a gallery sequence that answers questions in the order buyers ask them.
Attribute completeness
Category required fields filled properly. Missing attributes both suppress listings and remove you from the filters shoppers use to narrow results.
Backend search terms
Synonyms, alternate names and common misspellings, without repeating words already carried by the title. The field is small and most sellers waste it.
A+ content that earns its place
Modules that answer the objection losing you the sale, written informationally. Categories expanding A+ depth have reported organic movement, and stock modules have stopped counting.
Suppression prevention
Listings audited against the compliance rules before enforcement finds them, which is considerably cheaper than discovering the problem through a traffic collapse.
Mobile first proofing
Every listing reviewed as a phone renders it, because that is where two thirds of the buying happens and where all the truncation lives.
Conversion tracking after changes
Unit session percentage measured before and after, per ASIN, so a rewrite is judged on whether it sold more rather than on whether it reads better.
How the listing work runs
Audit against the rules first
Every ASIN scored on title length, indexed bullet coverage, image compliance and attribute completeness. This finds the listings that are quietly suppressed or one enforcement pass away from it.
Fix compliance before copy
An elegant bullet on a suppressed listing sells nothing. Main images, missing attributes and over-length titles get handled before anyone writes a word of persuasion.
Rewrite to the real limits
Titles inside 75 characters, search terms inside the indexed portion of the bullets, each bullet opening self contained, backend terms carrying only what the front end does not.
Measure conversion, not opinion
Unit session percentage per ASIN before and after. If a rewrite did not move conversion we revisit it rather than declaring victory on the basis that it reads well.
Why listings disappear from search without warning
Suppression does not send you a note you will notice. Traffic simply stops, and the seller usually spends a fortnight blaming the algorithm.
Main image non compliance
A background that is nearly white rather than pure white, a logo in the corner, a product filling too little of the frame. The most common cause by a distance.
Missing required attributes
Category required fields left blank. Amazon needs complete attribute data and an incomplete record is treated as an incomplete listing.
Prohibited title content
All capitals, promotional phrases such as free shipping or best seller, symbols and claims. These trip automated checks rather than human review.
Over-length titles
Since 27 July 2026 a title beyond 75 characters is out of policy in most categories, and Amazon has been substituting its own generated version rather than leaving it alone.
Catalogue conflicts
Two records fighting over one product, variation families built wrongly, or contributions from another seller overwriting your data quietly.
Suppressed size charts
Manually uploaded size chart images are being pulled from image carousels as Amazon moves to automated sizing. Apparel sellers relying on one lose it without notice.
The pattern worth internalising is that none of these are creative problems. They are compliance problems that present as a marketing problem, which is why they get misdiagnosed for weeks.
Writing for a shopper who may never see your listing
Amazon retired the standalone Rufus assistant in May 2026 and replaced it with Alexa for Shopping, which sits in the main search bar and generates overviews and side by side comparisons above the results.
That changes what a listing is for. A shopper can now get an answer, and a comparison, without opening your product page at all.
Attribute completeness matters more
Structured data is what a comparison is built from. A missing attribute is not a blank cell, it is your product losing a row in a comparison it should have won.
Plain answers beat adjectives
Write what the product is for and who it suits, in language a person would use. Marketing superlatives give an assistant nothing it can repeat back to a shopper.
Review quality and recency count
Recent, specific reviews feed the summarised answer a shopper reads before deciding whether to click. Old reviews age out of the picture that gets shown.
This overlaps with ranking, so we keep the split clean. How you get surfaced is Amazon SEO. What the listing says once it is surfaced is this page.
How much do Amazon listing optimization services cost?
Priced per catalogue rather than per word, because the work is research and judgement and the writing is the short part.
Listing audit
Every ASIN scored on compliance, indexed coverage and conversion, with a ranked list of what to fix first. Yours to act on with or without us.
Rewrite project
Titles, bullets, attributes, backend terms and image direction across a defined set of ASINs. A one off, priced after the audit.
Ongoing listing management
New products, A+ content, suppression monitoring and conversion tracking. Flat monthly fee, cancellable, and we will say if a one off rewrite is all you need.
Judge the work on unit session percentage per ASIN. Listings edited is an activity number and it tells you nothing about whether anyone bought more.

75 characters including spaces, across all categories except Media, effective 27 July 2026. Amazon has been rolling out AI generated replacements for titles that exceed it, so leaving a long title in place does not preserve it, it just means someone else writes it. Item Highlights is a separate field carrying up to a further 125 characters.
Roughly 140 to 220 characters each, even though Amazon allows up to 500. Only the first 1,000 bytes across all five bullets are indexed for search, so length beyond that adds nothing for discovery, and mobile clips each bullet at around 80 characters anyway. The first 80 characters of every bullet need to be a complete piece of value on their own.
Most often the main image, which must be pure white at RGB 255 255 255 with the product filling at least 85% of the frame, no text or logos, and at least 1,000 pixels on the shortest side. After that it is missing category required attributes, prohibited title content such as all capitals or promotional phrases, over-length titles, and catalogue conflicts between duplicate records.
No. The backend field is byte limited and repeating words the title already carries spends it on coverage you had for free. Use it for synonyms, alternate product names, regional variants and the misspellings people actually type. That is the coverage the front end cannot give you.
Its main job is conversion, but categories where sellers have expanded A+ depth have reported visible organic movement, and two or three stock modules with template text no longer do much of anything. Treat it as a place to answer the objection costing you the sale, written informationally rather than promotionally.
Amazon retired the standalone Rufus assistant on 13 May 2026 and replaced it with Alexa for Shopping, which sits in the main search bar, generates AI overviews above the results and runs side by side product comparisons inside the results page. The practical effect is that a shopper can compare your product without ever opening your listing, which puts more weight on complete structured attributes and plainly written benefits.
Unit session percentage per ASIN, before and after. It is Amazon’s own conversion measure and it is not open to interpretation. If a rewrite reads beautifully and conversion did not move, the rewrite did not work, and we would rather revisit it than describe it as a brand improvement.
