Amazon Brand Registry services for a gate that is lower than you think
You no longer need a registered trademark. A pending application from a supported office is accepted, which turns a twelve month wait into a decision you can make this week. Meanwhile the cost of staying outside went up, because manufacturer barcodes with FBA now require enrolment.
Enrolment, trademark route advice, and the protection tools that actually remove a hijacker rather than just logging a complaint.
What are Amazon Brand Registry services?
Amazon Brand Registry services cover getting a brand enrolled and then using what enrolment unlocks: advising on the trademark route and timing, completing and verifying the application, setting up the brand assets that become available, and operating the protection tools including Transparency and Project Zero to remove hijackers and counterfeit listings.
Enrolment itself is free. What it costs is the trademark, and the time it takes to reach a point where Amazon will accept it.
That second part is where the 2026 rules changed, and where most of the advice still circulating is out of date.
Four things about Brand Registry that changed
Each of these changes a decision, and two of them save real money.
A pending trademark application is enough. Amazon broadly accepts pending applications from supported intellectual property offices, provided you have the application number, alongside fully registered marks. Sellers still routinely wait a year for registration before applying, and that wait is no longer necessary.
IP Accelerator is optional and no longer the fast route. Recent guidance indicates it is not meaningfully quicker than filing directly, and can be both slower and more expensive. It still has a place if you want a vetted law firm handling it, but the speed argument that made it the default has largely gone.
Since spring 2026 you need Brand Registry to use manufacturer barcodes with FBA. This is the one that turns enrolment from a marketing upgrade into an operational requirement. If your supply chain relies on manufacturer UPCs, staying unenrolled is now a logistics problem rather than a missed opportunity.
The protection tools have their own entry requirements. Transparency and Project Zero both need active Brand Registry enrolment plus what amount to trust signals: a clean infringement reporting history and meaningful trademark coverage. Enrolling does not hand you the enforcement toolkit on day one.
Amazon revises eligibility regularly and country coverage differs, so confirm the current position for your marketplaces before filing anything. What follows is the shape of the decision rather than legal advice, and we are not a law firm.
What Amazon Brand Registry unlocks
Eight things, and the last one is the reason the decision stopped being optional for a lot of sellers.
| Unlocked | What it is for | Worth it when |
|---|---|---|
| A+ Content | Enhanced modules below the fold | Your product needs explaining or has objections to answer |
| Stores | A branded storefront and landing pages | You have a range rather than a single item |
| Brand Analytics | Search and basket data on your own category | Always. It is the closest thing to keyword data Amazon gives you |
| Sponsored Brands | Headline ads and storefront traffic | You are running ads and want presence at the top of results |
| Vine | Reviews on new products from vetted reviewers | Launching something with no review history |
| Transparency | Unit level codes verified at fulfilment | Counterfeit units are physically entering the supply chain |
| Project Zero | Self service removal of infringing listings | You are dealing with counterfeit and inauthentic listing abuse |
| Manufacturer barcodes with FBA | Using supplier UPCs rather than Amazon labels | Mandatory since spring 2026 if that is how you ship |
Brand Analytics is the one sellers under-use most. It is free once you are enrolled and it answers questions that people otherwise pay third party tools to estimate.
What our Amazon Brand Registry services cover
Getting in is the short part. Using what it unlocks is where the value sits.
Eligibility and route review
Whether you can enrol now on a pending application, which office to file in for your marketplaces, and whether IP Accelerator is worth it in your specific case.
Application and verification
The enrolment itself, the brand and trademark details matched exactly, and the verification step managed so it does not stall on a mismatch.
Role and account setup
Rights owner, registered agent and user permissions configured properly, so the wrong person is not the only one who can act when something urgent happens.
Hijacker removal
Unauthorised sellers on your listings, handled through the route that actually works for the type of abuse rather than through a generic complaint form.
Transparency setup
Unit level codes applied and verified at fulfilment, for brands where counterfeit product is physically entering the channel.
Project Zero operation
Self service removals run properly, which requires the trust signals to be in place first and a reporting history that stays accurate.
Brand asset build out
A+ Content and Stores set up so the things enrolment unlocked are actually in use rather than sitting available and empty.
Brand Analytics reporting
Search term, market basket and repeat purchase data turned into decisions about what to list, what to bundle and what to stop advertising.
Ongoing monitoring
Listing changes, new sellers appearing on your ASINs and content overwrites caught early, because the damage compounds while nobody is looking.
If you are enrolled already and want to know whether the assets are being used well, our Amazon listing score checker scores A+ content among the other factors and will tell you quickly.
How the Brand Registry work runs
Establish where you stand
Whether a mark exists, whether it is pending or registered, which offices it covers and whether that matches the marketplaces you sell in. Frequently the answer is that you can enrol now.
File or enrol
If a trademark is needed we advise on the route and cost rather than defaulting to whichever programme Amazon promotes hardest. If one exists, we enrol and manage verification.
Turn on what it unlocked
A+ Content, Stores and Brand Analytics put into use. Enrolment without this step is a badge rather than a benefit, and a surprising number of brands stop here.
Build the protection layer
Monitoring in place, reporting history kept clean, and Transparency or Project Zero added when your case and eligibility support them.
Transparency or Project Zero
They get discussed as alternatives. They solve different problems, and the choice follows from what is actually happening to you.
Transparency
A unique code on every unit, checked at fulfilment. It stops counterfeit product physically reaching the customer. Operationally heavier because it touches your packaging line.
Project Zero
Self service removal of infringing listings without waiting on a support queue. Covers counterfeit and inauthentic listing abuse, and the speed is the point.
Which one
Fake units in the channel points to Transparency. Bad listings on your ASINs points to Project Zero. Plenty of brands eventually run both, in that order.
Both require active enrolment and what amount to trust signals: a clean infringement reporting history and meaningful trademark coverage. Filing sloppy or speculative complaints early is a good way to make yourself ineligible for the tool you will want later.
What to do about sellers on your listings
This is why most brands enrol, and the honest position is that Brand Registry helps considerably without solving it outright.
Counterfeit sellers
Selling fake product under your brand. The clearest case, the strongest tools, and the one where Transparency earns its operational cost.
Unauthorised resellers
Selling genuine stock you did not sell them. Harder, because the goods are real. The route is usually supply chain control and pricing policy rather than an infringement claim.
Listing hijacking and content changes
Someone editing your title, images or bullets. Brand Registry gives your version priority and gives you a route to revert it, which is the single most immediate benefit of enrolling.
We will not tell you Brand Registry removes every unauthorised seller, because it does not. It gives you standing, faster removal routes and content priority, and against genuine counterfeiting it is decisive. Against a reseller with real stock it is a commercial problem wearing a legal costume.
How much do Amazon Brand Registry services cost?
Enrolment is free. The trademark is not, and it is the only unavoidable cost in this whole process.
Eligibility review
Whether you can enrol now, what your trademark position actually allows, and which route is cheapest for your marketplaces. Free, and often ends with you not needing us.
Enrolment and setup
Application, verification, roles and the brand assets built out. A one off fee, quoted after the review.
Ongoing brand protection
Monitoring, removals, Transparency or Project Zero operation and Brand Analytics reporting. Flat monthly fee, cancellable.
Two things we will not charge you for: filing a trademark you do not need yet, and enrolling you into a programme whose eligibility requirements you do not currently meet.
Brand Registry alongside the rest of the account
Amazon A+ Content
The first thing enrolment unlocks and the most commonly left empty. Modules that answer the objection costing you the sale rather than restating the bullets.
See A+ Content →Amazon listing optimization
Titles, bullets, images and attributes. Brand Registry gives your version of the listing priority, which only helps if your version is the good one.
See listing work →Amazon account reinstatement
If a rights complaint has been filed against you, correctly or otherwise, that has a deadline and silence is read as agreement.
See reinstatement →Common questions about Amazon Brand Registry
No, not any more. Amazon broadly accepts pending trademark applications from supported intellectual property offices provided you have the application number, alongside fully registered marks. This is the single most out of date piece of advice still circulating, and it costs sellers roughly a year of waiting for no reason.
It is optional and it is no longer the fast route. Recent guidance indicates it is not meaningfully quicker than filing directly and can be slower and more expensive. It still makes sense if you want a vetted law firm handling the filing and you value that over cost, but the speed advantage that made it the default answer has largely disappeared.
For some sellers, effectively yes. Since spring 2026 Brand Registry is required to use manufacturer barcodes with FBA, so if your supply chain relies on supplier UPCs rather than Amazon labels, enrolment is an operational requirement rather than a marketing decision. For everyone else it remains optional but increasingly disadvantageous to skip.
Transparency puts a unique code on every unit which is checked at fulfilment, so it stops counterfeit product physically reaching customers. Project Zero lets you remove infringing listings yourself without waiting on a support queue, and covers counterfeit and inauthentic listing abuse. Fake units in your channel points to Transparency, bad listings on your ASINs points to Project Zero.
Against counterfeiters, it is decisive. Against a reseller holding genuine stock they bought legitimately, it is not, because nothing is being infringed. That situation is solved through supply chain control, distribution agreements and pricing policy rather than through Amazon enforcement, and any agency telling you otherwise is selling you a complaint that will be rejected.
Enrolment itself is free. The trademark is the real cost, and it varies by office, by number of classes and by whether you file directly or through a firm. Since a pending application is now accepted, you can be enrolled well before the registration cost has fully played out.
Yes. Both need active Brand Registry enrolment plus what amount to trust signals, typically a clean infringement reporting history and meaningful trademark coverage. Enrolment does not hand you the enforcement toolkit immediately, and filing speculative or sloppy complaints early is a reliable way to make yourself ineligible for the tool you will want later.
Find out whether you can enrol this week
We will look at your trademark position, the marketplaces you sell in and whether a pending application already gets you through the gate. If it does, enrolment is a short job. If it does not, we will tell you the cheapest route to getting there. No obligation, no sales pitch.
