Schema Markup Services

Schema markup services that make search engines understand your business

Search engines read HTML, but they interpret structured data. Our schema markup services add and validate the structured data that wins rich results in Google and gets you quoted accurately by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.

We implement schema across WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, and custom builds.

The basics

What are schema markup services?

Schema markup services implement structured data on your pages in a standard vocabulary from schema.org, usually written as JSON-LD. It tells search engines what your content actually means: that this string is a price, this one is a review rating, this is your opening time. Without it, engines have to guess from the raw HTML. With it, they know.

The practical benefit used to be purely about rich results in Google. That is still true, but it matters more now for a second reason. AI answer engines rely heavily on structured, unambiguous data when deciding what to quote. Clean schema makes your business easier to cite correctly, and harder to get wrong.

Scope of work

The schema types that actually earn something

There are hundreds of schema types. A handful do real work. We implement the ones that fit your business rather than blanketing your site with markup nobody reads.

Product and Offer

Price, availability, and rating in the search result itself. Product markup is the highest-impact schema for most online stores, and the most commonly broken.

LocalBusiness

Address, phone, opening hours, and service area. Essential for anyone competing in local search and for appearing correctly in map results.

Article and BlogPosting

Author, publish date, and publisher, which supports author-level trust signals and helps your content qualify for Top Stories and news surfaces.

Recipe, Event, Course

Content-specific types that still earn genuinely prominent rich results, including images, dates, ratings, and pricing right in the listing.

Breadcrumb

Replaces the raw URL in your result with a readable hierarchy. Small change, measurably better click-through rates, almost never implemented properly.

Organization

Your logo, social profiles, and identifiers. This is what feeds the Knowledge Panel and helps engines connect your brand across the web.

FAQPage and HowTo

No longer shown as rich results for most sites, but still valuable for AI answer engines that lift structured question and answer pairs directly.

Service

What you do, where you do it, and for whom. The backbone of service-business markup, and how we structure every page on this site.

Entity linking with sameAs

Connecting your brand to its profiles and knowledge bases so engines treat you as one recognised entity rather than several unrelated mentions.

Straight talk

What schema will not do for you

Schema is oversold constantly. Three things worth knowing before anyone charges you for it.

Google deprecated FAQ rich results in 2023. They now show only for a small set of authoritative health and government sites. If an agency promises FAQ dropdowns in your listing, they are working from outdated information. The markup still has value for AI engines, but it will not change how your Google result looks.

You cannot give yourself review stars. Google has ignored self-serving review markup on your own organisation since 2019. Real star ratings come from Google Business Profile and genuine third-party sources. Any agency adding aggregateRating to your own homepage is at best wasting your money and at worst risking a manual action.

Schema is not a ranking factor by itself. It does not push you up the results. It changes how you appear once you are there, and how confidently engines understand you. That improves click-through rate and citation accuracy, which is worth real money, but it is not a shortcut to position one.

We would rather tell you this upfront than sell you markup that cannot deliver what was promised. If schema is not the right investment for your site right now, we will say so.

Where it matters most now

Schema is how AI engines get your facts right

When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a recommendation, the engine has to decide what your business is, what it costs, and where it operates. Structured data answers those questions unambiguously.

Accurate citations

Clean markup means engines quote your real prices, hours, and service areas instead of inferring something wrong from stale page copy.

Easier extraction

Structured question and answer pairs are the easiest thing for an answer engine to lift. FAQ markup lost its Google rich result but gained a new job.

Entity clarity

Linking your brand to its verified profiles helps engines treat you as one known entity, which is what earns you a mention rather than a competitor.

This connects directly to generative engine optimization, where structured data is one of the strongest levers you have.

How we work

Implemented properly, validated, monitored

Audit what exists

Most sites already have schema from a plugin or theme, often duplicated, incomplete, or conflicting. We find what is there and what it is doing wrong.

Map types to pages

Each template gets the schema that fits it. Product pages, service pages, articles, and location pages all need different markup, not one blanket block.

Implement and validate

We write clean JSON-LD, test every template against Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator, and fix warnings rather than ignoring them.

Monitor in Search Console

Enhancement reports get checked so a theme update or plugin change cannot silently break your markup months later.

Deliverables

What our schema markup services include

Schema markup services should leave you with validated, maintainable structured data, not a plugin toggled on and forgotten. These deliverables come as standard.

Structured data audit

A full inventory of the schema already on your site, including duplicates from themes and plugins, conflicting Organization blocks, and markup that fails validation silently.

Template-to-type mapping

A document showing which schema type belongs on which template, so product, service, article, and location pages each get markup that fits rather than one generic block.

Hand-written JSON-LD

Clean markup implemented in the template rather than bolted on, so it stays accurate as content changes and does not break the next time a plugin updates.

Validation evidence

Every template tested against the Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator, with warnings resolved rather than ignored, and results documented for you.

Entity connections

sameAs links to your verified profiles so search and AI engines treat your brand as one recognised entity rather than several loose mentions.

Search Console monitoring

Enhancement reports checked after deployment so a theme update cannot quietly invalidate your markup months later without anyone noticing.

Investment

How much do schema markup services cost?

Schema markup services are normally a fixed-price project, scoped by how many distinct page templates need markup rather than how many pages you have. Marking up one product template covers ten thousand products.

A small service site with four or five templates is a short engagement. A store with products, categories, locations, articles, and author pages takes longer, mostly because each type needs its own testing pass before it can be signed off.

Ongoing monitoring can be folded into a wider technical SEO retainer or handed back to your team once the implementation is documented. We will tell you honestly which makes sense for your setup rather than defaulting to the one that bills more.

Common questions about schema markup services

Not directly. Google has been clear that structured data does not itself lift your position. What it does is change how your result appears and how accurately engines understand you, which improves click-through rate and citation accuracy. That is worth real traffic, but it is not a shortcut to ranking higher.

Not from markup on your own site. Google has ignored self-serving review data since 2019. Genuine stars come from Google Business Profile or third-party review platforms. Product reviews from real customers on product pages can still show, but an agency adding ratings to your homepage is wasting your money.

For most sites, no. Google restricted FAQ rich results in 2023 to a narrow set of authoritative health and government domains. We still recommend FAQ markup, but for a different reason: AI answer engines lift structured question and answer pairs readily, so it remains useful for visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.

Usually not. Plugins add generic markup that is often incomplete, sometimes duplicated across multiple sources, and rarely tailored to your templates. The most common problems we find are conflicting Organization blocks and Product markup missing the price or availability fields that make it useful.

It is normally a fixed-price project sized by how many distinct templates need markup. A small service site with four templates is a quick job. A large store with products, categories, locations, and articles takes longer. We quote after auditing what you already have.

Google needs to recrawl each template before anything changes, so typically two to six weeks. Rich result eligibility appears in Search Console enhancement reports first, which is where we track it. Click-through improvements follow once results actually start displaying differently.
